"The Judas Contract" was a four-part storyline originally printed in issues #42-44 of Tales of the Teen Titans and concluded in the 1984 Tales of the Teen Titans Annual. The story was written and edited by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez with artwork by Pérez, Romeo Tanghal, Dick Giordano, Mike DeCarlo and Adrienne Roy. Lettering was provided by Ben Oda, Bob La, John Costanza and Todd Klein. All four issues were collected in the 1988 New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract trade paperback. Among readers, this storyline is often times cited as the pinnacle of Wolfman and Pérez' run on the title. "The Judas Contract" is the culmination of a sub-plot that began as early as New Teen Titans #2 with the introduction of the Terminator and the H.I.V.E.

About the author (2005)
Comic book artist and writer Michael Turner was born in Crossville, Tennessee on April 21, 1971. He had been a pre-medicine student at the University of Tennessee before moving to Aspen and San Diego, where he taught martial arts. At the 1993 Comic-Con in San Diego his artistic talent was discovered by the staff of Top Cow Productions. Turner illustrated backgrounds for Top Cow titles before co-creating the popular comic book character Witchblade, who was named for the supernatural weapon that affixed itself to the arm of New York homicide detective Sara Pezzini. In 1998 he debuted the aquatic Fathom character, whose secret identity was marine biologist Aspen Matthews. In 2002 Turner left Top Cow to found his own entertainment publishing company, Aspen MLT Inc. In 2004 he began contributing art to DC Comics and Marvel Comics, including cover designs for issues of the Teen Titans, Superman, Identity Crisis, The Flash, Supergirl, Wolverine, Civil War, Incredible Hulk, Black Panther, and Sub-Mariner. In 2004 he provided the cover art and co-wrote the Superman "Godfall" story arc, and Soulfire began publication. Turner died at age 37 of complications from bone cancer and is survived by his family and fiancée, Kelly Carmichael.

Superman/Shazam!: First Thunder was a four-issue limited series published from November of 2005 until February of 2006. The series represents the first meeting between Superman and Captain Marvel. Chronologically this storyline takes place some time after the Man of Steel limited series and the The Power of Shazam! graphic novel. The earliest known meeting between each of the heroes took place in Legends #5. Despite being included in the title, the wizard Shazam does not play a major role in this series. He does, however, provide some narration and appear in three of its four issues.
